Safeguarding Statement

Blewbury Endowed Cof E Primary School is committed to ensuring the welfare and safety of all our children in school. We believe that pupils have a right to learn in a supportive, caring and safe environment which includes the right to protection from all types of abuse; where staff are vigilant for signs of any pupil in distress and are confident about applying safeguarding processes to avert and alleviate any such problems.

Safeguarding is about ensuring that everyone is safe from harm – safe from bullying, safe from people who could abuse, safe from discrimination or harassment – and that we all feel safe in our environment.

Our Behaviour Strategy supports this statement and children are encouraged and supported to be able to express their concerns or feelings through our PHSE work, our development of emotional literacy, through Peaceful Problem Solving and through the support of our ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant)

If you are ever concerned about the safety or well‐being of someone at our school please talk to one of the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead s (DSLs).

Designated Safeguarding Lead – Mrs Becky Clark

Deputy Safeguarding Lead – Ms Marion Mills

All adults working within school but not employed directly by ourselves  eg volunteers, governors, sport's coaches, peripatetic music teachers, support agencies  and workman will require a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check when in school. For our International visitors we would expect an equivalent assurance.

For those clubs and societies who use the premises outside of school hours, and who are involved with under 18 year olds, we need assurance and proof on booking of their safeguarding procedures.
